How to measure your opening for a sliding barn door system
Posted on September 21 2024
Measuring your opening before installing a sliding barn door system is easy, just need a tape measure and a pen to write down the measurements. For openings with architraves/door jamb, you don't have to remove it.
Note, for openings wothout a bulkhead (openig direct to ceiling), sliding barn door system installation is not available.
Steps are as below:
- Openig Height (Measure from the bottom of bulkhead to the finished floor, or measure from the top edge of the architraves/door jamb to the finished floor if has architraves/door jamb)
- Opening Width (Measure the internal width of a plain plastered opening, or measure the total width including the architraves/door jamb if has architraves/door jamb)
- Ceiling Height (Measure from the bottom of the cornice to the finished floor, or measure from ceiling to finished floor if you have square cornice)
- Bulkhead (Ceiling height - opening height = bulkhead, or measure from bottom of cornice to top of opening)
- Wall Space (Measure the wall length next to the opening)
